Steak “N” Bacon Burger

Ingredients:

  • Small thick piece fillet steak.

  • 1 brioche bun.

  • 2 pieces of bacon.

  • 2 slices of American red cheddar cheese.

  • Half a small onion.

  • 1 small pickled gerkin.

  • Tablespoon of butter.

  • Tablespoon of sugar.

  • Olive oil.

  • Garlic aioli.

  • Salt & Pepper.

Instructions:

All cooked on the fire pit.

  • Take you piece of fillet steak and season both sides with salt & pepper.

  • Place steak in between some baking paper and using something heavy like a cast iron frying pan, place on a solid surface and bash until approx. 6mm thick then place to one side.

  • Cut up half the small onion into rings and place in the frying pan. Drizzle a healthy serving of olive and salt over the onion and place on fire tossing around so you get all the onion coated in the oil.

  • Once the onion becomes translucent or gets a little bit of colour, add the butter and sugar and stir in ensuring all the onion gets coated. Place to one side on the grill so it can slowly caramelise in the corner.

  • Take you piece of steak and coat one side with olive oil and give it a couple more cracks of salt, turn it over and repeat.

  • Put you steak and bacon on the fire pit grill and only turn once.

  • Once turned place your cheese on top of the steak and your bun on the grill.

  • When the cheese is melted place you’re bacon on top of the cheese and put everything into the frying pan to take back to your table.

Build Your Burger:

  • Take the bottom section of your bun and pour a healthy layer of the garlic aioli on it.

  • Place the steak, cheese & bacon on top of the aioli.

  • Place your caramelised onion on now, then slice up the pickled gerkin and place that on top of the onion.

  • Drizzle some more aioli on top and place lid of your bun on your burger.

Your burger is now ready to enjoy and if you really want to shake it up a bit, add a fried egg.
