Meet the Crew

Paul

I have been involved in the 4wd scene for a little under 10 years now. It all started when I was driving home one day in my high performance commodore and a patrol car went by and I did my usual, please don’t turn around and pull me over, and I thought at that moment that I needed a change. I needed to get out of pouring money into performance machines and thought, lets buy a 4wd and I haven’t stopped spending money on it since, but at least I don’t sink into the seat whenever a Police car goes past.

Gary and I use to work together and we started the “Bring Your 4WD To Work Day” club which we did everyday anyway but that was basically code for Boss, we are nicking off early to go 4 wheel driving on Friday which we did quite regularly and the boss approved by conveniently cancelling the afternoon Operations meeting on that day. I started videoing little bits and posting on our newly formed Facebook page and people started gathering interest in our adventures. The wife said to me one day “why don’t you put your videos on Youtube” and me being a bit technologically challenged at the time, I handed the phone to Clarissa and the Paul Gunton Youtube channel was born.

Over time we have met some amazing people and some of those people have stuck around and become the closest of friends and now form the Perth 4B4 Adventures crew where we film our adventures and have great pleasure in sharing them with our followers.

Gaz

I have been involved in 4WD for over 40 years.

Completed 2 big laps and 100’s if not 1000’s of smaller trips.

4 wheeling for me is a lifestyle and something I love. To be honest I couldn’t imagine not being able to get out exploring be it solo or with friends.

I’ve been involved with PFA since its inception.

Paul and I worked together some years back and we seemed to find time to get out on a Friday afternoon just to wind down from the week’s pressures. Some of these trips started to be filmed for our own enjoyment and things grew from there.

We have met some amazing people and over the journey, some of them joined us to make PFA what it is today.

I’m proud to call these guys my friends.

Anthony

Anthony here, I grew up in the Pilbara and had a pretty successful speedway career in my youth. Initially racing sedans in the junior modified division in a 202 powered LH Torana before moving up to Sprintcar racing at the ripe old age of 15. I was obsessed and spent every weekend and a lot of weeknights washing, repairing and rebuilding race cars. At that stage in my life, if you didn’t want to talk about sprintcars then we had nothing in common.

In my early 20’s, my work asked me to move to the Middle East, not wanting to miss any opportunities in life I accepted the offer and headed off to Dubai. Needing something to replace the hole in my life left by speedway, I brought a Hummer H2 and spend my weekends exploring the desert dunes and coast line of the U.A.E. & Oman.

I moved back to Australia, just after starting a family and spent a couple of years out of off-roading, modifying a Nissan R33 GTR and running track days and cruises. Got sick of that and wanted to get out and see more of WA, so started modifying a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S for off-road touring. The Porsche was a pretty unique sight to see on the remote beaches up and down the coast and people used to shake their heads in disbelief whenever they saw it somewhere it shouldn’t be. I thought I knew better until it let me down after a serious off-roading session up the track from Monkey Mia, in between Christmas & New Years one year, when every workshop in WA was closed.

So next was the Amarok which is still going strong. I’ve had it since 2018 and it’s a finished project now. It’s interesting because most people in the 4x4 community have no idea what an Amarok is capable of, but when you know, you know. Shortly after getting it, I met up with Paul & Gary at the very first subscribers day, met Holly and Brad along the way and have gone along on any other trip I could get an invite to.
