Ocean Catch Burger

Ingredients:

  • 1 Fillet of Fish (Catch of the Day)

  • 1 Brioche or Potato Bun

  • 2 Slices of American Red Cheddar

  • 1 Sweet Pickled Gherkin

  • Lettuce (Handfull)

  • 1 Tablespoon Kewpie Mayonnaise

  • 2 Tablespoons of Tartare Sauce

  • 1 Packet Instant Batter Mix

  • 100g of Plain Flour

  • 200ml Matsos Ginger Beer

  • 400ml Vegetable Oil

Instructions:

  1. Pour vegetable oil into saucepan and place on heat.

  2. Empty half the packet of instant batter mix into a bowl then pour in 100ml of the Matsos or the liquid of your choice, can even be water. Stir with a fork adding in more liquid until a firm runny constancy is reached.

  3. Cut fish into smaller bun friendly pieces and coat in the plain flour.

  4. Once oil is up to temperature, dip the fish into the batter mix and drop into the oil. Cook on one side for about a minute then flip it over and cook for another minute. Once golden brown take out and place on some paper towel to rest.

  5. Toast bun either in a frying pan or over the fire grill.

Build Your Burger:

  1. Chop up the lettuce and slice up the pickle.

  2. spread the Kewpie mayo on the bottom section of the bun, place the lettuce on top of the Kewpie.

  3. Place the 2 slices of cheese on top of the lettuce.

  4. Slice up the pickle and lay across the cheese followed by the cooked fish.

  5. Spread the Tartare Sauce on the lid of the bun and place it top of the fish.

Your burger is now built and ready to enjoy and wouldnt you know it, you still have a third of a stubbie of Matsos left to wash it all down with.
